Why is it that when someone asks a question about tattoos (whether they hurt, whats a good tattoo idea, where should they get them, etc etc) theres always a bunch of people who'll answer JUST to tell them that tattoos are ugly and they'll look horrible in 40 years? If they hate tattoos so much...How come theyre answering questions, in the tattoo section?
Also, why do they think that we're so dumb that we dont know that theyre gonna be on our bodies for ever, and that we havent considered what theyre going to look like in 40 years, but we still decided that we wanted them, because we love them so much?
Why do people get such an attitude about tattoos? its our personal choice, we're not forcing anyone else to get them, so why does it bother them so much? If it makes us happy whats wrong with that? Just curious, what do you think?I almost asked the same question myself today. The I saw your question. I gotta say Amen sister I agree with you whole heartedly. I hate seeing " I wouldn't get one,but..." Then why answer a question that has to do with Tattoos in the first place. There are several other categorys to choose from. Or when a guy puts his 2 cents in and says "only whores have tattoos." Oh that irks the **it out of me!People use this as a forum to express their opinions, even in sections they have no business being in, even if their particular opinion (as the "non-tattoo'd") is not asked. AND, they stereotype what they do not know....another human trait. It's your body do as you wan't and as you feel comfortable doing with it. It shouldn't matter to anyone else except your significant other what you do to your body. Other people can have there opinions and that is what they are there opinions. I have 3 tattoo's and when I got my 1st 1 my dad told me I was stupid and I said thanks it was my choice! I waited until I was 18 and was old enough to be stupid on my own, then he took my brother who was 14 and got him 1, 3 weeks later because he thought it was cool. The difference between being a boy and a girl, my dad finally did like it eventually. Or accepted it!Alright!! Someone had to speak up! lol....yea or stuff like girls w/ tats on their lower backs are sluts....blah. I love my tattoos...and its my body so I will do with it what I please. Soo wooooo for tats!i agree with you 100%. i have 6 tattoos and 21 piercings and i hate being judged on here or out in everyday life just b/c i have them.Have you ever noticed the answers people make - regardless of the question - that sound as like 'Dear Abby' responses? They're so full of 'good' advice, prayers for the lord, well wishes and ignorant opinions. I think it's the same people. And I've decided that they're incredibly bored (not unlike myself right now), and need an outlet. No one wants to listen to their drivel anywhere else... here they can voice everything they feel is necessary.I've had mine for over thirty years, I still love it.
It is a vestige of my past. I thought about what I wanted a long time.
I am very conservative, but still love my tattoo.I brought up a point similar to this one when my Aunt was giving me the judgemental speech about tattoos. Granted, my parents don't like them and they make that known, but they don't think any less of me because of them. One thing I've always said is that my tattoos make me proud to live in my skin when I've had such a hard time getting to that point.because the UNtattooed look at themselves as the greatest people on earth. they look down upon people with tattoos and therefore, every question that mentions tattoos, they must open and speak up their mind. it`s annoying, yes. and i agree with you that people with tattoos have their own personal reasons for getting it. it gets on my nerves when people say s*** to me about my tattoo. it makes me want to smack them and make the STFU. if tattoos make you happy, then so be it. people who have nothing better than voice their opinions all day when NOBODY ASKED FOR IT should go get a life.I agree with you completly. Attitudes about tattoos amaze me. I had one guy who was the biggest womanizer around and cheated on his wife numerous times tell me I was going to go to hell for getting tattoos. My response to him was I will see him there LOL.I think its because deep down, their arguments have no real foundation and they just have little else to do with a meaningless life. Its just like the girls that think they are 'hot sh*t' and go around putting down others, they are insecure and use hostility and hate to maintain their image. There is a huge stigma around people who are tattooed and the 'untattooed' see themselves as the best and pure people around and that they are smartest...God-like if you will.
I do agree with you 110% and while its nice you posted this, I'm sure calling them out on it will just cause them to post more about how its wrong and mutilation and blah blah blah
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but people still need to learn when to keep said opinion to themselves.I really think that people just try to push thier personal views in people adn it isn'y just over tattoos!!! I personally only have one tattoo at the moment.. BUT that is just because I am a BROKE college student... Wen my taxes come back I plan on getting AT LEAST 3 new ones!!!!! I can't wait!!!!I think it is because they secretly want to join the ranks of the tattooed. They just haven't coughed up the nerve yet. I love tattoos of all shape and color. I have 13 myself and am far from being done.
My wife has 11, and still collecting as well.I think because most people are grossed out by them...sometimes it is the response or attention people who get them want. If people didn't notice them or comment, would as many people get them ? I find most girls who get them must show them off, wear a short top, ( if on midriff )short pants or skirt, ( if on the legs ) or showy shoes, if tatoo is on the ankle. Most want to make a statement of some kind with a tattoo. A lot of people like art of some kind, but don't want to wear it on their body forever. Also, they may get them with a theme they are not happy with years down the line, and then think they were stupid or wish they'd never got it. It shouldn't bother you that not everyone likes them or wants one or many....If we all had them we'd all look the same and not be so attention getting right ?I think tattoes are awesome, if they have meaning. I have a friend who just got one, her father passed away 9 years ago, and she got the tattoe he had on his arm, to always remember him. I think something like that is amazing. The orginial purpose of the tattoe is being lost, which is alittle upsetting in some cases, but nice so people can just get a symbol if they love what it represents. One should do what they feel is right, but as long as it means something to that person, and serves a purpose. People will always judge, and this is because they honestly do not have enough of an understanding for life and meaning. But the important thing is that you do, and you see that.I'm not one to preach at people about stuff. You ask a question that I have a response to, I'll respond. If you don't care what I think don't ask,
Anyhow I don't have any tattoos, don't plan on getting one anytime soon. Than could change as I had never planned on getting my ear pierced. Well I have a stud in my left ear.
Anyhow I would never get one for 2 reasons. One is I cannot think of anything I would want on my body for the rest of my life. With art or pictures you hang on the wall, they can be easily replaced. Tattoos are permanent and should be well though out. Don't get me wrong, I do find some tattoos interesting, and some very attractive.
Second reason I'd not get one. I'm too cheap. My wife has talked about getting one and I laugh.because they're jealous. yea tattoos are gonna be with us for the rest of our lives. duh dats y i got mine. the untattoed just cant accepth the artistic expression in it. we know the consequences of how the might look later on stop buggin and saying its gross. if you dont like em dont get em and stay outta the business of those who want or have some.Funny you should say that Dani. I have often thought about why people would go to great lengths to express such intolerant and prejudiced views towards who already have tattoos or those looking for genuine advice on getting their first tattoo.
Usually it is those with the least to say that make the most noise. The main reason I think is they believe it's their right to judge. People judge everything. From what you look like, to what type of car you drive, what area of town you live in. I have a tattoo and am planning on getting more.AMEN!!!They are voicing their opinion. I like tattoos if done right and have meanings. You will always find people like that but it's part of being able to weed through the crap being blown around and the words that mean more. For example, I know someone who got a butterfly tattoo in Canada because she could. It is in a really bad spot and she will hate it once she has had children and she knows that. But I want one on my arm that represents my personality and if it fades, stretches, so what ... I will know why I got it. There is nothing wrong with getting a tattoo or piercing (I have five and plan on atleast five more) if it makes you happy. It is not their body but they are hoping that giving off enough bad energy will convince someone to not do it. It wont work ... but they keep trying. Bless their hopeful hearts! Lol. Had to throw some sarcasm in there, it was too tempting to resist, hehe.i agree. people just feel the need to push their opinions on people who are asking genuine questions. tho there are some people who don't take into consideration what their tattoo will look like or even it's appropriateness when they get older. i think those people end up regretting their tattoos. but for those of us who consider the tattoos carefully before they are a great addition to our bodies.
i hate it when the tattoo haters say stuff like "be original and don't get a tattoo" well how original is that? more people don't have tattoos than people who do... whatever.
i also hate it when people acutally think that girls with lower back tattoos are tramps. as if one day you can go from not being a tramp to being one because of a tattoo? and what about all the tramps out there in the world who don't have tattoos? it boggles the mind!Personally, I've never been one to care very much what other people think about me or my lifestyle . I've tried explaining my point of view to a few, but they always tried to argue that I wasn't thinking clearly, or I wasn't seeing THE BIG PICTURE, or that I was simply wrong. Some people thin that their opinions matter, but you know what they say about opinions and arseholes, right? They're just jealous~ they want tattoos but are to much of chicken s**ts to get them!I agree wholeheartedly! Amen!It all comes down to this....People cant mind their own business...they make themselves feel better by putting others down, and most of all put down whatever it is they are jelous of.....Human nature to me is pure insanity!#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
